Why doesn't SofTap teach machine PMU?
Because complexity isn’t the same as mastery.
SofTap was built around our providing clients with a gentle technique with beautiful results, and empowering artists to apply natural PMU with ease. Our method removes unnecessary steps so artists can focus on what actually affects results.
Many artists come to SofTap after machine training and discover something unexpected: that simpler techniques can produce more consistent, gentle, natural, and long-lasting outcomes.

Do I need experience to start training with SofTap?
No experience required! The SofTap Academy is great for beginners and cross-over artists, while other programs are tailored to more experienced professionals.
Can I learn SofTap if I am already trained in machine?
Yes! As a machine artist you already have fundamental knowledge and experience that crosses over into SofTap. What you will really need to learn is the SofTap technique and the SofTap pigments.
Is hands-on training required?
Hands-on training is required for certain programs and strongly recommended for skill development and confidence; however, it is not required for artists with previous PMU experience.
Can I take classes without enrolling in the Academy?
Yes. SofTap offers focused hands-on training, workshops and self-paced online classes independently of the Academy.
How long will it take to get my certificate?
It depends on the program or class you enroll in. The full length of the Academy takes about 6 months to complete (including apprenticeship), while on-demand courses will take as long as it takes for you to complete them (anywhere from a few a hours to several weeks). Check the number of hours to complete in the course description to get an idea of how long it will take you to obtain your certificate.
