Ultimate Color Guide for SofTap Permanent Makeup Pigments
Choosing the right permanent makeup pigments is crucial for achieving the perfect, natural look that lasts. Whether you’re working on brows, eyeliner, or lips, the right pigment enhances your client’s beauty and complements their skin tone. In this guide, we’ll help you select the best permanent makeup pigment colors for various skin tones and desired effects.
How to Choose Your Color
-
1. Small Dot
Take a very small dot of pigment (about the size of this O), and place it in the treatment area (brows, eyeliner, lips, etc).
-
2. Smear
Use a dry cotton swab or tissue and wipe the pigment down until dry; this will allow the pigment to layer with the undertones in the skin, as well as demonstrate a more realistic healed result of the color.
-
3. Compare & Adjust
Try two pigments in different areas so you can easily compare! If one is too cool and the other too warm, try mixing them 50/50 to see if you can get an ideal shade.
Eyebrow Pigments
- Warm Shades: Ideal for clients with cool undertones (ash, blue, olive), warm eyebrow pigments blend with cool undertones to create a natural, soft look. Use shades like Caramel, Bordeaux, or German Chocolate.
- Cool Shades: For clients with warm undertones (red, orange), or those that prefer no red in their makeup, opt for cool eyebrow pigments like Champagne, Pecan Pie, or Chocolate Eclair to complement their complexion.
- Neutral Shades: Great on many different skin tones and an excellent place to start if you're not sure what to choose, neutral brown pigments like Bashful Blonde, Fawn, Espresso and Earth offer a balanced and versatile option for most clients.
Eyeliner Pigments
- Black Eyeliner Pigments: A classic choice for a bold, defined look, black eyeliner pigments like Black Orchid, Charcoal, Cafe Ole and Mahogany are perfect for clients that want to make their eyes pop.
- Soft Brown: For clients seeking a softer, more natural eyeliner look, soft brown or dark brown eyeliner pigments like Chocolate Eclair, Earth, and German Chocolate provide a more subtle enhancement.
- Blue, Green & Special FX: For clients wanting something unique, blue, green and purple eyeliner pigments such as Irish Moss, Blue Lagoon, and Plum Shadow, offer a striking, vibrant alternative that can complement various eye colors.
Lip Pigments
- Natural Pinks: For a soft, natural lip tint, natural pink pigments are perfect for clients desiring a youthful look. Choose shades from the Imposter Collection such as Sweet 16, Cupid's Kiss, or Innocence.
- Red and Burgundy Shades: For deeper, more dramatic lip colors, red and burgundy pigments provide rich, bold tones perfect for clients who want vibrant lip color. Consider shades like Valentine and Tickle Me Pink.
Sometimes a single pigment doesn’t quite match a client’s needs. Although you don't need to mix pigments, you certainly can!
Mixing pigments allows you to create a custom color that perfectly matches your client’s skin tone, desired result, and undertones. We always recommend you test your custom pigment mix to best predict the healed result.
